If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know I love pizza. My family seems to eat pizza at my house a couple of times a week. With two growing boys, we have to keep up with their appetites, and one thing I know is that pizza is a great way to fill them up!

Making this sheet pan pizza is so simple, you’ll never buy frozen pizza again! You just put the dough on the sheet pan top it with your favorite pizza toppings and bake it. Pretty simple if you ask me!  First, let’s get to the ingredients list for a simple pepperoni sheet pan pizza:

Ingredients:

  • Trader Joe’s Pizza Dough (plain, herb, or whole wheat)
  • Trader Joe’s Pizza Sauce (or whatever sauce you like)
  • Trader Joe’s Whole Milk Mozzarella or Trader Joe’s Quattro Formaggio
  • Pepperoni (varies by Trader Joe’s locations)
  • Trader Joe’s Dried Oregano
  • Trader Joe’s Olive Oil, about 1 tablespoon
  • Any topping you want, Mushrooms, veggies, pineapples, whatever!

Also, you will need a sheet pan. I like this one:

Nordic Ware Baking Sheet

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 – Make sure it’s at the right temperature before you assemble everything else.

2. Start with a bag of Trader Joe’s Pizza Dough. I like the plain one the best. You will need a sheet pan for this recipe. You will use the whole bag on a normal sized sheet pan.

3. Assemble your ingredients – For my pepperoni pizza, I use the Volpi pepperoni, Trader Joe’s whole milk mozzarella, and Trader Joe’s Arrabiata or pizza sauce. I like the Arrabiatta sauce because it has more flavor and spice than the regular pizza sauce, but use whatever you like!

4. First forming – First we spread a good tablespoon of olive oil on the baking sheet. Then take the dough out of the bag put it on the oiled baking sheet, and punch it down until it’s kind of flat. Then rub a small amount of oil on top of the dough and let it rest for about 30 minutes covered with plastic wrap. Letting the dough rest makes it easier to spread out and also lets the dough rise a bit to get it those crunchy bubbles.

5. Final Push – After Letting the dough rest, it’s time to make the final shape. Letting the dough rest lets it rise a bit more and warm up. It also softens the dough a bit so it’s easier to form. Push the dough out towards all the corners, filling the sheet pan. If it doesn’t want to go all the way to the corners, let it rest for another 10 minutes and try again until it goes to the corners. If you tear a hole in the dough, just fold over a little section over the hole and seal the hole. It will be fine.

6. Apply The Sauce. Spread the sauce out as far as you want. Some people like to go all the way to the edge and some like an edge to hold on to. You don’t want to put too much on or the dough will get soggy. As you can see from my image above, you can mostly see through the sauce to the dough.

7. Add The Cheese – Now add the shredded cheese on top. Again, like the sauce, don’t put too much on or it becomes an oily mess, especially with pepperoni. I like to use either Trader Joe’s Shredded Mozzarella or the Quattro Formaggio. You should be able to see the sauce through the cheese.

8. Toppings – For this pizza, I just put on a scant amount of pepperoni. You can probably double the amount and have a great pizza. Like the previous two steps, just don’t put too much on or it’s an oily mess. The more you put on the longer the bake time. If you pile on mushrooms and peppers and onions it all needs to bake so up your bake time. I like to sprinkle with oregano.

9. Bake the Pizza – Pop the pizza in the oven on a middle rack. Bake for about 20-30 minutes, but keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn. The edges will start to turn brown and the middle should be completely melted and bubbly.

Voila! It’s done! cut with a knife or pizza cutter right in the pan and serve.

You’ll need a pizza wheel or a long knife to cut the pizza into square slices.

Equipment

  • 1 Sheet Pan
  • 1 Pizza Wheel

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Trader Joe's Pizza Dough
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce Trader Joe's has many tomato sauces
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella More or less to your liking
  • 1 cup pepperoni
  • 2 tbsp Dried Oregano

Instructions

  • Drizzle Olive Oil on sheet pan and make sure the whole thing is covered including the sides
  • Take the Trader Joe's Pizza Dough out of the bag and lay on the oiled sheet pan flipping to cover all the dough. Cover with plastic wrap for an hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • Push the dough to the corners of the sheet pan until the whole pan is covered with dough. If it doesn't go all the way to the corners, wait another 30 minutes.
  • Top the dough with your favorite tomato sauce. I use regular Trader Joe's Marinara. Leave 1/2" of the dough uncovered for a crust.
  • Top the sauce with cheese and pepperoni
  • Put the sheet pan into the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes until the sides are medium brown.
  • Pull the pan out of the oven and wait a minute or two and then cut into squares and serve!

Notes

This recipe is very flexible. The only two things you need are a sheet pan and pizza dough. The rest is up to you but I don’t like the Trader Joe’s pizza sauce because it is too sweet and thick. I opt for the regular marinara sauce. The cheese is up to you. I actually use the Quattro Formaggi the most because of the more complex flavors. Then for toppings the sky is the limit.

  1. “The first one I am going to make is the pan pizza.”

Ok- where’s the second pizza you’re going to make? Did I miss it?

  2. Hi Steve, I love this idea of a sheet pan pizza. Just wondering if I should cut it in half and spread it out as far a possible for a very thin crust? I love a thinner crust. The pic above looks like a slightly thicker crust. Thanks

  3. Can you freeze the dough? I live alone and just want to make half of the dough but not sure if I can freeze the other half! Thanks!
