Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Thins Review – I’m not a carb-free person. I enjoy my carbs but you know I am looking out for all of you a high protein, low carb, keto person. I mean who doesn’t like cauliflower, eggs, and cheese. Wait that sounds a little like a frittata or an omelet. You’d almost be right in both cases!

Trader Joe’s never shied away from trendy food trends. Cauliflower is the superfood for low-carb diets. It’s relatively high in protein for a vegetable while keeping the carbs lower than a lot of them. These thins look like they are about 5″ across, sorry I didn’t measure them. They are the perfect size for a taco or a small sandwich or maybe even a small pizza-like contraption. At first, I thought these were the same as its larger cousin, the cauliflower pizza crust, but one key ingredient is different and that is eggs. That makes all the difference.

These are actually a very thin frittata and they taste like it. I actually enjoyed just warming them up and sprinkling them with some olive oil or butter, salt and pepper and some fresh herbs. Two or three of these and you have a complete meal.

The problem with trying to use them as a vehicle for a sandwich is that they are kind of rubbery in the way they fold. They aren’t stiff like bread, they would be better for a soft taco shell if anything. I try to make a sandwich from them and it went well, but it was weird.

The actual “thins” taste like eggs and cheese, which isn’t a bad thing, but if you are trying to enjoy other aspects of your food you might not want to taste eggs and cheese. The cauliflower is neutral in all of this. I can’t taste it.

I tried to crisp them up a bit but all I ended up doing was making them darker and drier. You can see I pulled one apart to see the texture inside and it’s like a very thin egg omelet.

Like I said I don’t mind the flavors or the texture but I see a lot of people out there trying to make these something else,  like pizza or a sandwich or a taco, but in my humble opinion they fall short as that. Get yourself some gluten free bread or tortillas made out of corn because these aren’t going to satisfy that itch.

But did I like these Cauliflower Thins on their own, I sure did. I would give them 8 stars on their own and 5 if you want them to be a pizza crust or for a sandwich. There are much better gluten free options out there for that. Each one has about 50 calories and 4.5g of protein. Two of them are 100 calories so you’ll need more than these for a meal!

  1. Cauliflower thins probably one of the best products ever sold. This has changed my life. Tuna, chicken salad, egg salad, and every other meat sandwich comes out great toasted on this product. I go through 5-6 packs a week.
