Trader Joe’s Os Cereal Bars Review

In the latest installment of Trader Joe’s quest to revolutionize our snacking habits, they’ve rolled out the ‘Trader Joe’s O’s Cereal Bars,’ a snack that promises a symphony of flavors and textures. Imagine this: the legendary Joe’s Os, the cereal that’s been the unsung hero of breakfast bowls nationwide, now daringly combined with roasted peanuts and a ‘lightly salted’ peanut butter. And as if that wasn’t enough, they’ve crowned it with a drizzle of peanut-flavored coating – because, why not? Marketed as the perfect companion for your morning commute or an after-gym snack, these bars seem to be Trader Joe’s attempt at creating a culinary Swiss Army knife for all your snacking emergencies. Whether it manages to be a convenient delight or just another aisle-filler in the vast empire of Trader Joe’s, is something we shall soon uncover.

If there is one that Trader Joe’s does and does well, is all their bars! There is a whole section dedicated to the wide variety of bars they carry. Mostly they carry their own bars but this is one area where they carry quite a few outside brands like Z-bar (which my kids grew up on).

When Trader Joe’s announced their O’s Cereal Bars, I couldn’t help but wonder if this was the answer to a question nobody asked. But, in the spirit of culinary adventure and a mild obsession with all things Trader Joe’s, I dove in.

Each bar is like a tiny shrine dedicated to the peanut, where Joe’s Os cereals are offered as crunchy sacrifices to the gods of nuttiness. The bars are a Frankenstein-esque creation that combines breakfast cereal with a peanut butter sandwich, minus the bread, and with a questionable drizzle that looks like it’s trying too hard to impress.

Taking a bite, you’re immediately hit with the sweet and salty tango – it’s like a flavor roller coaster where peanuts are the stars, and your taste buds are just along for the ride. The texture is a masterful mix of crunchy and chewy, leaving you wondering if you’re eating a snack, a breakfast, or a cry for help from someone in the Trader Joe’s R&D department.

As you chew, you’ll notice the subtle hints of saltiness from the ‘lightly salted’ peanut butter, which is about as subtle as a sledgehammer in a library. But somehow, against all odds, it works. It’s the kind of snack that you begrudgingly start to enjoy, despite your initial reservations and the lingering suspicion that you’re being bamboozled into eating breakfast cereal outside of breakfast.
