Trader Joe’s Chocolate Peppermint Loaf Mix. I hope to get a few last tidbits in before Christmas season comes to a screeching halt here in about a week or so. Last Sunday I had some spare time on my hands, although this isn’t exactly the hardest thing in the world to make, it does require some mixing and turning the oven on. Something I think we can all do! This is a super simple, but really neat desert-like, ready to bake, chocolaty bread mix. Really easy and really good!

This is easy to make and filled with chocolate. In the box you get a bag of little tiny cubes of minty chocolate and a bag of mix. You need to add oil, eggs and water and stir everything together. It gets pretty thick, but don’t let that worry you. This is more like bread and less like a cake. I tasted one of the little cubes of chocolate and boy was that minty! This is really going to be an interesting loaf of bread. My older son loved licking the bowl and spoons. If it didn’t have raw eggs in it we’d all be sticking our fingers in the batter it was that good!

TraderJoesChocolatePeppermintLoafMix2I preheated the oven to 350 and then I oiled a Pyrex bread pan with butter. I poured the mixture into the loaf pan and put it in the oven. This stuff takes quite a while to bake almost an hour, they call for 55 minutes and mine was done perfectly at 55 minutes and I pulled it out of the oven and it filled the whole kitchen with a minty/chocolate aroma that was making all our mouths water.

After it cooled, which takes quite a long time because this is a pretty dense loaf, I cut off a few slices for the kids and they went nuts! I tasted it too and it was this thick, rich, dense, chocolate, mint goodness that just melted in your mouth. To dress it up, you might sprinkle some powdered sugar on top. Hell, you could put some frosty or glaze on top to make it more visually appealing. Stick a few candles TraderJoesChocolatePeppermintLoafMix3in it and call it a birthday cake!

All in all, this is a great thing to make for your next holiday party. You can serve a side of ice cream with it if you want. On it’s own, it’s a little lacking in the visual appeal department, so you might want to dress it up. We all loved the super dark minty chocolate taste and it was super easy to make. I will give the Trader Joe’s Chocolate Peppermint Loaf Mix 9 Bells it was that good! Get some before TraderJoesChocolatePeppermintLoafMix4it leaves the stores in January…
