I don’t usually do reviews of anything but food, but this really caught my attention and some Instagram pictures I posted really got a lot of likes. This is more for Mrs. Club Trader Joe’s than me but I saw how her eyes lit up when I brought in four of these strands of Trader Joe’s Felted Wool Garland, I had to write about it.
Trader Joe’s has been, for several years, creating viral holiday products. Whether it’s gingerbread cookie Christmas house kits or speculoos cookie butter or some weird flavor of ice cream, they are masters at figuring out a way to create buzz around their products. The first one this year (2019) was the advent calendars for your dogs and cats. I’ve never seen something so crazy.
Trader Joe’s Felted Wool Garland in store with trivetsLast year, the felted wool trivets were a smash hit and according to a checker at Trader Joe’s, they sold out at their store in about a day. I guess I was there on the right day and got a couple for Mrs. Club Trader Joe’s and she uses them almost every time we sit down to eat. This year it’s the Handcrafted Felted Wool Garland from Nepal.
These are colorful and made from New Zealand wool that’s shipped to Nepal where it’s hand-felted and put on a string. They are 9 feet long so one is not enough if you want to decorate your Christmas tree, so I picked up four of them. They are $8.99, which seems like a steal for something as cool as this. Mrs. Club Trader Joe’s doesn’t know exactly what she is going to do with them yet. . They might decorate our fireplace, like the picture on the label or go around the tree. I was on Reddit and one woman was going to disassemble them and re-purpose the balls into other cool products. The sky is the limit on the cool things you can do with them. People are re-selling them on eBay for $30 so if that is an indication of how popular they are!
These hit the store shelves in mid-November so I would run, not walk to your nearest Trader Joe’s to get the Handcrafted Felted-Wool Garlands because they will be gone very soon.
