Trader Joe’s Nuts About Rosemary Mix Review. If there is one thing that Trader Joe’s does right, it’s nuts. It’s always been that way. Anyone who has spent any time at Trader Joe’s has seen the volume of nuts they have.  Their Salted Blister Peanuts are one of my favorite nuts (Peanuts are not really a nut but you know the rest of the story). Serving nuts at Christmas time is a long established tradition in European cultures that my family practiced when I was growing up. During the holiday time, we always had a large bowl of nuts to crack.

Following in that tradition, Trader Joe’s has released a can of mixed nuts. Not only just mixed nuts, but nuts infused with the herb rosemary and coating a little bit of sugar and salt. Rosemary has long been used as a flavoring for nuts. But the amazing part of this nut mix is the very thin sheen of sugar that has been applied to the nuts. It’s just the perfect amount of salty and sweet without being too sweet. I cannot stand nuts that are too sweet. The actual nuts are big and mostly whole so there are not a lot of broken bits like you get in a lot of nut mixes. Delivering whole nuts is a tricky thing since they can break up in processing.

If you have had mixed nuts before, it won’t be much of a surprise. The thing that makes this nut blend just one step better is the sugar and rosemary. Also, the fact that they are only $6.99 as Trader Joe’s pretty much undercuts everyone on nut prices, except maybe Costco. But Costco does not deliver anything as interesting as this. I also appreciate the fact that there are no peanuts or peanut oil. Which is also a huge problem with Planters and the like. Peanuts are cheaper than regular nuts and covering them in peanut oil is too.

Final Verdict

Nuts and Rosemary have a special affinity and it shows in this mix. Serving bowls of nuts at holiday times is a long tradition and even if you aren’t from a culture that did this, these nuts are a great addition to any gathering. I am going to buy several cans of these because they make a great snack at the office at a great price and we will be putting out bowls of these at our next party!
