Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Bagels

As autumn’s crisp embrace rolls in, Trader Joe’s has once again stirred up the seasonal excitement with a tempting twist on a breakfast classic. Enter their Pumpkin Spice Bagels—a product that promises to make your fall mornings as cozy and delightful as a crackling fireplace. But do these bagels truly live up to their pumpkin spice hype, or are they just another seasonal gimmick? Grab your coffee and let’s dive into the delicious details of this fall favorite.

One of the first things I picked up was Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Bagels (This review is for the regular bagels, not the gluten free ones) because we go through a lot of bagels in my house (and I am still pissed off that they stopped selling the whole wheat bagels in early 2019). I picked up a bag of these and was a little skeptical because they looked like cheap supermarket bagels and not the high quality bagels that Trader Joe’s is known for.

The next morning, I pulled one out and it looked like mushy bread and not a real bagel. I tried to cut it in half and I was kind of able to do that but it was all soft, just like the crappy ones you get at Safeway. If I wasn’t doing a review for this blog, I probably would’ve just thrown it in the trash, but I soldiered on.

I toasted it hoping that the bagel would firm up a bit and get a nice crisp edge to it. I waited and waited until I saw it was getting nice and brown and I could smell that telltale aroma of pumpkin pie spice emanating from my toaster oven. I wanted to keep this a fair review, so I didn’t try the pumpkin cream cheese. Probably a good thing since I would be completely overwhelmed by the pumpkin pie spice.

Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Bagels on the plate

After I toasted the bagel halves, I put some regular Trader Joe’s cream cheese on them, and was I disappointed. These bagels, while they had a decent flavor of pie spices, and supposedly they have pumpkin flour, the texture was a huge letdown. They were soft and doughy and had no bite to them. I would never buy these again and will probably just feed them to the dogs.

Trader Joe’s can do much better than this. This was a huge disappointment for them.

On a scale of 1 to 10 Bells, I am going to have to give this 1 bell. It was AWFUL! Don’t buy them…
