Buckle up your taste buds, because we’re about to find out if this yogurt is a seasonal sensation or just a pumpkin pie pretender.

Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Greek Nonfat Yogurt, I wasn’t expecting much from this yogurt. It’s October now and we’ve had a month of pumpkin spice flavored products inundating our senses every time we walk into a Trader Joe’s. I almost passed this one up because it was put in next to all the other yogurts and just kind of blended in. But I spied it with all the other yogurts so in the spirit of the season, grabbed a couple to eat for breakfast the next day.

You can see the bright orange color! clearly they are putting some squash colors in there with the pumpkin puree listed on the ingredients list. The yogurt is firm Greek style yogurt and stood up to the spoon.

I am a big fan of Greek styled non-fat yogurt, well actually any amount of fat is OK with me. But I tried this the next morning and I thought I was having dessert after Thanksgiving dinner. It tasted exactly like pumpkin pie! I was shocked. The spices and flavors perfectly meld together for decadent flavor. I’ll be buying a lot more of this.

When I finished, I thought it would make an excellent pumpkin pie and you don’t need to add any spices. There are a lot of yogurt based pumpkin pie recipes out there and I just adapted this one.
