I have to be honest, I love biscuits! I don’t make them that much, although making them from scratch is super simple. But we are all very busy and even most busy moms have a few ace in the hole products when they want to throw a dinner on the table with minimal fuss and these frozen biscuits are well worth buying if that is your goal, but notwithstanding that, they are a fast and delicious biscuit to just have around.

These Trader Joe’s Cheesy Herby biscuits are found in the frozen section. They are $4.99 for 12 oz or six biscuits. These are clearly aimed at the holiday season and you are unlikely to see them after Christmas this year (or any year). So, if you like them and want them after, you should stock up on them now.

Making these biscuits is super simple, but there is one little thing that you need to know, well actually three things. First is that you bake them from frozen. Unlike the croissants these do not need to rise before you put them in the oven, I am assuming any rising that has been done, happened before they froze them. The second thing is that you bake them without pre-heating the oven! That is something I haven’t done before. You put them on the baking sheet in the oven and turn it to 375f and bake. Then the third oddity is that you need to use two baking sheets. I guess this protects them from burning on the bottom.

I popped mine in the oven and set a timer for 28 minute, the minimum temperature they stated and at 375f and let it rip! I pulled them out of the oven at 28 minutes and they looked perfectly done. I put them on a wire rack to cool for a few minutes and then I cut into one before snarfing it down.

In the end, Trader Joe’s Cheesy Herby Buttermilk Biscuits are easy to make and bring plenty of rich, cheesy flavor to the table. Pop them in the oven, and you’ve got golden, flaky biscuits loaded with parmesan and cheddar in no time – perfect for when you’re too busy juggling Thanksgiving sides to think about making dough from scratch. My one minor nitpick? For something advertised as ‘herby,’ the herb flavor is barely there. A bit more oomph would have taken these biscuits up a notch, but I’ll still give them a solid 8 out of 10. Grab a pack for Thanksgiving before they vanish from the freezer aisle – because you know they will!

  1. I went to buy the biscuits and was told they had been pulled because they didn’t meet your quality. I drove all the way over there for nothing. I would like to know if you are going to get more or if your not going to carry them. Please let me know.
    Thank you
