Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Flavored Nonfat Greek Yogurt

Tis  the season! Around this time every year Trader Joe’s starts to roll out the seasonal fare. Starting in mid-September we end the summer season and start to roll out the Halloween and Fall stuff (even though it’s still blazing hot here!). That means we see squash, pumpkins and a whole host of pumpkin flavored products. I hope to get to as many as possible this year! The first one I picked up is the Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Flavored Nonfat Greek Yogurt. Trader Joe’s does a really neat job of putting pumpkin spice flavoring in a whole host of products. Ice Cream, cookies, beer, bread, etc. It keeps things interesting at Trader Joe’s!

I don’t think they had this last year so I picked it up (with a bunch of other Pumpkin flavored things) and gave it a go the next morning. Trader Joe’s offers a bunch of different flavored Nonfat Greek style yogurts and I really like them all (except for plain, yuck!). I usually eat the leftovers from my 8 year old son who will only eat the vanilla yogurts from the vanilla/blueberry six pack. So this was a welcome change to try a new yogurt for breakfast.

There really isn’t much to see here. Yogurt, pureed pumpkin, vanilla and some “spices” to round it out. As you see by the picture it’s a very light orange color. You can’t see any pumpkin bits in it. I’m sure it’s more for color than anything else. Pumpkin (and squash in general) isn’t the most flavorful thing. The flavors we all taste are from what we get from pumpkin pie which has a bunch of spices in it to give it some flavor otherwise it would be pretty bland.

The first spoonful reminded me of eating cold pumpkin pie. It was a dead ringer for that! I quite enjoyed the subtle pie spices. Not too overwhelming. Not too sweet. I gobbled the whole container down! Definitely worth buying.

To kick of the holiday season, I really liked this Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Flavored Nonfat Greek Yogurt. I would’ve never thought of making yogurt taste like Pumpkin Pie, but leave it to Trader Joe’s to come up with something unique like this. I don’t think it will be on the shelves more than a couple of months so I would pick some up and try it out yourself real soon.  I am going to rate this Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Yogurt 8 bells!
