Trader Joe’s Vegetable Spring Rolls

Trader Joe;s Vegetable Spring Rolls

Trader Joe’s Vegetable Spring Rolls with Kale, Edamame, Mushrooms and Shredded Tofu. You know if you’ve been following this blog for any time that I am a sucker for anything Asian that Trader Joe’s makes. The frozen section is one of the first places I look when I hit any Trader Joe’s. I can’t wait to see what new goodies they come up with.

Normally I don’t order spring rolls when I go out to eat Chinese food. Don’t get me wrong, I love them for the most part, but most of the ones you get at those American-Chinese restaurants are filled with way too much cabbage. I’m humble opinion there should be less cabbage and more of the stuff we like! Nothing worse than getting a soggy, cabbagey spring rolls delivered to your table. I know you can’t get away from the cabbage since it’s the main ingredient but sometimes too much cabbage makes for an awful spring roll.

I have to say I was quite impressed with these little wonderful rolls of vegetables!  I’ve made a lot of frozen spring rolls in the past and even some from Trader Joe’s that didn’t turn out all that great. I followed the instructions by defrosting them in the microwave for a bit then I popped them in the toaster oven and the wrapper got nice and brown and crisp. Almost as good as deep frying them!

Let keep in mind that these Vegetable Spring Rolls are vegetarian! No meat here. Although, I like my meat, these spring rolls prove that you don’t always need to eat meat to have satisfying food. In these the meat is replaced by tofu, which does give them that meaty flavor and texture.  Also, on a different take on the traditional spring roll, Trader Joe’s has packed them with kale and edamame, which I think gives them a great extra kick in the flavor department.

I served these with sweet chili dipping sauce and also made my own soy sauce, ginger concoction that I love too. Made for a great lunch on their own! I really liked these Trader Joe’s Vegetable Spring Rolls and I bet you will too. I rate these 9 Bells because they are so darned good!
