Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Yogurt Dip

Trader Joe’s Everything but the bagel yogurt dip

The actual name of this product is Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Greek Style Yogurt Dip with Sesame Seeds, Sea Salt, Poppy Seeds, Garlic and Onions! Whew! Clearly Trader Joe’s is trying to capitalize on the hype around their Everything But the Bagel seasoning blend that came out a couple of years ago. Just like they did with Cookie Butter and Joe’s O’s. Let see how many other things we can put this into! Don’t be surprised if you see the EBTB in ice cream and cookies soon. Probably not, but you get my drift!

We love dips here at the global headquarters for Club Trader Joe’s. The Mrs. in the house loves to put them out before dinner, especially when we have guests over. Any dip that has a tangy, yogurt base is a crowd pleaser and this dip aces that in spades. There are essentially two things in this dip: Greek yogurt and the EBTB seasoning. That’s it! It makes you wonder why you just don’t make it yourself? I did find the yogurt to be a little runny, not the super thick Greek yogurt I am used to. Maybe it’s not whole milk yogurt. The package says “Light cream and non fat milk powder”.

It’s got that tangy Greek yogurt taste and then layer on the EBTB seasoning blend and you have a real winner. I might spruce it up a bit with some chopped chives and a pinch of aleppo pepper to give a tiny kick. Black pepper also could be used. If I was to make this, I would just take some whole milk Greek yogurt, a little lemon juice, some chopped chives, a dash of hot pepper sauce and a whole bunch of EBTB blend and stir it together and let it sit for a few hours so the flavors blend together. Sprinkle more chopped chives or green onions right before serving. Voila!

Honestly, this stuff is so easy to make, I don’t know why you would buy it, but I know, you are busy! For all you busy people out there, this is a great dip to put out for your guests. Serve it with some Trader Joe’s pita chips and you are golden!
