Thanksgiving dinner can officially be served in a popcorn bowl now thanks to Trader Joe’s. That’s right, Trader Joe’s has taken your Aunt Karen’s cherished stuffing recipe and sprinkled it on popcorn. Because apparently, we’ve given up on the whole ‘actual meal’ thing and moved straight to seasoned snacks that taste like your entire Thanksgiving spread. It’s like they thought, ‘Why wait for turkey day when you can just shovel stuffing-flavored popcorn by the fistful in October?’ Bold move, Trader Joe’s. Bold move. Let’s see how they taste!

Trader Joe’s has two very similar products—Trader Joe’s Thanksgiving Stuffing Seasoned Popcorn and Trader Joe’s Thanksgiving Stuffing Kettle Chips. The Kettle chips have been around a very long time, I want to say over 10 years coming out every Thanksgiving and they are quite popular around the holidays. People hoard them for the rest of the year because they like them. In my review of the Kettle chips, I liked them quite a bit and if you like that stuffing flavor (predominately sage and garlic) go get some of the chips.

But we are talking about the Thanksgiving Stuffing Seasoned Popcorn here. I love popcorn, it’s healthier for you than potato chips. There is much less fat associated with them. I do have to admit that the salty, fatty combination of potato chips is much more flavorful, but you know you can’t eat cheeseburgers every meal without paying the consequences. Same with potato chips!

The popcorn itself is light and airy, using butterfly-style kernels that provide the ideal canvas for the rich and aromatic seasoning blend. The careful selection of spices such as celery seed, thyme, parsley, black pepper, and sage, evokes the familiar and comforting taste of traditional stuffing. This masterful combination of herbs and spices results in a snack that is both familiar and exciting, transporting you to the heart of autumn with each bite.

What makes this popcorn truly special is its versatility. It’s not just a snack for nibbling in front of a movie or packing in a school lunch; it’s also a wonderful addition to any Thanksgiving hors d’oeuvre table. Its savory flavors complement a variety of dishes and can even inspire creative culinary endeavors. For instance, combining a bag of this popcorn with dried cranberries and candied pecans creates a homemade snack mix that’s both festive and indulgent, perfect for holiday gatherings.

The flavors on the popcorn are not as pronounced as the potato chips, which in my mind is a good thing. I really don’t like heavy handed flavors on my popcorn.

  1. I can’t believe I missed this! (Full disclosure: I’m in an unhealthy relationship with the potato chips. I’m thinking the popcorn might work like methadone.)
